Templates

Templates are starting points for decisions of the same kind, such as a hiring decision or a vendor choice, so each one starts with the right structure, tags and approvers.

Using a template

On New decision, choose Start from a template. It prefills the summary, tags and approvers. Everything stays editable before you create the decision, except that a template can require a consultation window.

Creating templates (admins)

Admins manage templates under Templates. Each has:

  • a name,
  • a summary skeleton, such as headings to fill in,
  • default tags and approvers,
  • a default approval mode: any approver, or all of them (see Approvals and dissent),
  • whether a consultation window is required,
  • its reversibility: a one-way door (hard to reverse) or a two-way door (easy to reverse). Choosing one sets the two defaults above to match: a one-way door needs all approvers and a consultation window, a two-way door any approver and no window. You can still change both.
