Frozen decisions and superseding

An approved decision is what people agreed to, so the record shouldn't quietly change afterwards. Decretum freezes it, and changing it means creating a new decision that replaces it.

What's frozen

Once a decision is approved, its title, summary and options can no longer be edited, and it can't be moved back into discussion. Everything around it keeps working: tags, due date, visibility, discussion, acknowledgements and revisits. A superseded decision stays frozen too.

Superseding a decision

To change an approved decision, its owner, approvers and admins choose create a decision that supersedes it on the decision. This opens a new decision prefilled with the old one's title, summary, tags and approvers. Edit it and create it. Then:

• the old decision moves to Superseded,
• the two are linked, as Supersedes and Superseded by, so anyone reading either one can follow the chain,
• the new decision goes through discussion and approval like any other.

Archiving instead

If a decision simply no longer applies and nothing replaces it, Archive it. It stays on record, unchanged.
