How Decretum works
Four steps, all on the same record, not four tools stitched together after the fact.
Capture
Open a decision record with a title, a summary, and the tags that place it. Whatever's already been discussed elsewhere, distilled to what matters.
Discuss
Discussions can continue inside Decretum, with threaded, rich-text posts, @mentions, and attachments, instead of splintering across a meeting, an email thread, and a chat.
Approve
Approval requires a named approver and, optionally, their stated rationale, turning "we decided" into a specific person, a specific reason, and a specific date.
Find it later
Full-text search across every decision and every reply, so the person who needs to know why, six months or three re-orgs later, can actually find out.
Every decision, especially the ones you can't take back
Decretum is built to record every decision your organization makes. It matters most, though, for decisions that are costly or practically impossible to reverse, the kind that may require third-party re-certification to change. When getting it wrong twice isn't an option, knowing exactly what was decided, by whom, and why stops being optional.
Not a wiki, on purpose
General-purpose documentation tools don't enforce who decided, who approved, and why as structured data. That's the one thing a decision register exists to do.
Not developer-only
Architecture decision records solved this for engineering teams. The same problem exists for procurement, compliance, and operations too, which is why Decretum is built for the whole organization.
Org-wide by default

Visible beyond the room it was made in
A decision made inside one team can still depend on something only another team knows: a compliance constraint, a technical limitation, or a commitment already made to a customer. When that context only surfaces afterward, in a hallway conversation questioning a decision that's already shipped, it's too late to be useful.
