Consultation windows

A consultation window gives people a set period to weigh in before a decision goes to approval. It makes sure the people with relevant knowledge had a real chance to speak up, and records whether anyone did.

Opening a window

Set Open for comment until to a date, when creating a decision or when editing one that is still New or In discussion. Once discussion has moved on, it can no longer be set. The decision's subscribers are notified when the window opens.

When it closes

When the date passes, the decision moves to Pending approval automatically. Whether anyone posted during the window is recorded in its history, so "nobody objected" is on record too.

Required by a template

A template can require a consultation window, so decisions of that kind can't skip one.
